About Talkzy

What is Talkzy?

Talkzy is a teleprompter app for iPhone and iPad. Your script scrolls in a narrow column right under the front camera while you record, and it can follow your voice: talk at your own pace and the text keeps up, pause and it waits. Every take is saved as its own clip. It is made by an independent developer, Dao Van Thuong.

Which devices does Talkzy run on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later (iPadOS 17 or later on iPad). 4K and 60 fps recording depend on what your device’s camera supports. There is no Android or Mac version.

Can I download Talkzy now?

Not yet. Talkzy is being finished for the App Store, so the download buttons on this site say “Coming soon” until it is live. In the meantime you can try the free web teleprompter on this site with a sample script.

Is Talkzy free?

The free version is a complete teleprompter: unlimited scripts and sections, file import, timed and manual scrolling, mirror, countdown, remotes, prompter-only mode and 1080p recording, plus 3 voice-follow takes a day. Talkzy Pro adds unlimited voice-follow, 4K, 60 fps and HEVC recording, loop and section jumps for livestreams, and Bluetooth or USB-C mic choice. There is no weekly plan; the pricing section on the home page lists the plans.

Does Talkzy add a watermark or show ads?

No. Takes have no watermark, the app has no ads and no advertising SDK, and there is no account to create.

Voice-follow

How does voice-follow work?

Talkzy listens while you read and matches what you say against your own script, then keeps the line you are on at the reading line. Because it knows the script, a skipped line or an ad-lib doesn’t throw it off. When you pause, the text waits; in a room too noisy to follow, it keeps scrolling at your pace instead of freezing. Voice-follow is labelled beta.

Does voice-follow need an internet connection?

No. Talkzy uses only Apple’s on-device speech recognition, and audio is never sent to a server, even when a connection is available. The recognized words are used in the moment to find your place and are not stored.

Which languages does voice-follow support?

Voice-follow works in languages that your iPhone or iPad can recognize on the device, including English and Vietnamese. If your language has no on-device recognizer, Talkzy offers timed scrolling instead; it never falls back to server-based recognition. The app itself is available in ten languages.

Scripts, recording and takes

How do I get a script into Talkzy?

Paste or type it, or import a .txt, .md or .rtf file. A line that starts with # begins a section, which you can jump to while reading. Talkzy shows the word count and estimates the read time at your speed.

Where do my takes go?

Each take is its own file in Talkzy, named after the script and listed with a still and its length. If you turn it on, every take is also saved to an album named after the script in Photos. Deleting a take in Talkzy leaves the copy in Photos.

What happens if Talkzy closes while I’m recording?

The take is still there. Talkzy writes it in 2-second pieces, so if the app is killed, crashes or the battery dies, the next launch reads the file back and adds the take to your list, marked Recovered. At most the last ~2 seconds are lost.

Which remotes work with Talkzy?

Bluetooth keyboards, presentation page-turners and ring remotes, in every mode. Space or Enter plays and pauses, the arrow keys and Page Up/Down move by line or section, and plus and minus change the speed. With the camera open, the volume buttons and Camera Control start and stop a take. Remotes are free.

Does Talkzy work with a beam-splitter teleprompter rig?

Yes. Prompter-only mode shows the script full screen with no camera, mirrors it left–right and upside down, and offers a black background with very large white or yellow text. The screen stays awake. Mirror and remotes are free.

Can I use Talkzy for a livestream?

Yes, as the prompter next to your stream. Put a second iPhone or iPad beside the phone that is live, open prompter-only mode, write each product as a section starting with #, and move between sections with a keyboard or page-turner. Looping the script is part of Talkzy Pro. Talkzy does not stream video itself.

Privacy and sharing

Does Talkzy upload my scripts or videos?

No. Talkzy has no server of its own. Scripts and takes stay on your device (and in Photos if you choose); scripts go to your own iCloud only if you turn on iCloud sync. What does leave the phone: purchase data through RevenueCat, and anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics for Firebase, which you can turn off in Settings. The privacy policy has the details.

Can I send a script to someone who doesn’t have Talkzy?

Yes. Send it as a link and the reader opens a teleprompter in their browser, with no app needed; anyone with Talkzy can add it to the app. The script travels inside the part of the link after the #, which browsers never send to a server, so it is not uploaded to this website or anywhere else. Anyone with the link can read it, so share it only with people you mean to.
